Social Entrepreneurship
Social Entrepreneurship these days is a worldwide movement that provides multifarious solutions to some really impossible conundrums. According to David Bornstein and Susan Davis, the essence of Social Entrepreneurship is to aid individuals to “build or transform institutions to advance solutions to social problems”. Social entrepreneurs are the chief initiators of concepts. They are the ones who expedite transition by being engaged internally, acting as bridges inside and outside well-rooted organizations. Social entrepreneurship also involves aiding people to find a new potential that furthers their development by foreseeing avenues and practically making it a reality.

The path to becoming a successful social entrepreneur is paved with the perpetual pledge of working tirelessly on ideas without heeding to the impediments that keep cropping up quite frequently. Therefore any social entrepreneur should be aware of the big picture, have unique ideas of positivity, communicate effectively, have ingrained integrity, create effective networks, be tenacious in achieving goals, actively find solutions, be ingenious and enterprising and be monetarily shrewd.

Becoming a social entrepreneur does not require a transition into a super human being but it certainly requires initiation of action for anything that seems objectionable in the world at large. Therefore in the words of J. Gregory Dees
“Social entrepreneurs play the role of change agents in the social sector, by:
· Adopting a mission to create and sustain social value (not just private value),
· Recognizing and relentlessly pursuing new opportunities to serve that mission,
· Engaging in a process of continuous innovation, adaptation, and learning,
· Acting boldly without being limited by resources currently in hand, and
· Exhibiting heightened accountability to the constituencies served and for the outcomes created.”

Inspite of all the technological advancements that the world has seen in the recent years, it is people or individuals who stand as strong pillars of support in times of crises. Though our future is uncertain with global destruction looming large over our heads, our greatest hopes lie in the capable hands or minds of socially inclined individuals who’ll stop at nothing to reverse the declining trend and fight to have their way and thereby empower other individuals in the process. This is the true meaning of social entrepreneurship.
